Biography

Carolyn Williams is an assistant editor at Doubleday/Nan A. Talese, where she has had the pleasure of working on a wide range of literary and upmarket fiction and narrative nonfiction with New York Times bestselling authors such as Dan Brown, Ian McEwan, and Margaret Atwood. She started her editorial career at Bloomsbury before moving to Doubleday in 2016. For her own list, Carolyn is looking to acquire literary and upmarket fiction featuring smart women, voicey characters, and memorable families, as well as creative, narrative nonfiction, especially memoirs, social history, essay collections, and cultural criticism. She gravitates towards debuts written from a new perspective, page-turning literary suspense, coming-of-age stories, sweeping family sagas, off-kilter comic writing, and nuanced characterization—but of course captivating storytelling and beautiful prose are always the most important factors she looks for in a great manuscript!
